My mission with Designs By Delphine* is to bring sustainability to everyone and treating people equally. Empowering women and bringing confidence to you is the other biggest mission here.
However, as it feels like the world is checking up for the past couple of months with a pandemic and the past couple weeks with the loss of Georges Floyd, we are in the best position ever to rework ourselves out, to improve, to do better.
Do the best you can until you know better. Then when you know, do better. Maya Angelou.
I have to apologize first.
I have failed to acknowledge what a darker skin person can go through daily.
I have failed in not promoting enough equality (even though it is incrusted in my skin and work ethos), it is a topic that needs to be continuously reminded.
The excellent news about failure is that you have all the opportunities in front of you to stand up, to speak up, and to boss it up again.
Failure is the opportunity to begin again more intelligently as once said, Henry Ford. So here is how I want to improve my work:
- Designing garments with an empowering message (with the same upcycling mission of course). Be patient on that one, but it will be implemented as soon as I can produce again 🙂 If you have a quote, a word you would be proud to wear on, please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org
- Keeping learning and talking about equality. Keeping improving the way I do things, remembering why I do it, and the impact created. In work and everywhere.
Failure is good; only if you decide to stand up again. And NOW.
* The name of my business has been changed for a better understanding of what is behind my brand and for an easy online search. Let’s be honest that my Frenchy last name may be difficult to remember and to write up!
